The Common is an international arts organisation dedicated to the art and craft of storytelling. In a world where people and institutions are trying to make us believe we are fundamentally different, stories at The Common bring out humanity’s “common thread” – our universal desire for love, respect, and connection – and reminds us of one salient, culture-shifting truth: we have far more in common than we may think.

OUR PROGRAMS:

Our signature storytelling series - enthralling, honest and unforgettable.

A curated evening featuring storytellers, from all walks of life, sharing true, personal stories in front of a live audience.  Compelling narratives, raw emotions, real stakes, and perspectives that stay with you. From quiet confessions to epic misadventures, these stories tap into the emotional truth of what it means to be human.

A Grown Up Version of a Childhood Classic!

A monthly open mic storyslam where people are invited to bring an object they hold dear and put their name in a hat for a chance to share the story behind it. Lucky charms, cherished momentos, relics of extinguished passions or heirlooms that stand the test of time—every object holds a unique story.

The Show&Tell Showdown

Ten unforgettable voices. One stage. Zero room for holding back!

Show&Tell Showdown, brings together ten past winners for an all-out storytelling event to claim the ultimate title. The night is packed with heart, humour, and raw honesty—but the stakes are high, the stories are honed, and every teller is bringing their A-game.

Building connection through the power of story—one workshop at a time.

Our dynamic workshop series where we partner with organisations to design custom storytelling experiences that bring people together. Whether you're leading a team, teaching a class, or building community, these workshops help you harness the power of storytelling to inspire, influence, and connect more effectively. Participants learn to craft and share stories that not only reflect who they are but also forge deeper connections with classmates, colleagues, and clients. It’s storytelling with purpose—and it starts right where you are.
